Brains and brawn: the Gen3 Smart Wheel all-in-one is a fully integrated rear-hub e-bike conversion. The motor, battery, controller and sensors sit in one compact hub, so you get assistance without an external battery pack, frame sensors or a wiring loom. Swap the rear wheel and your bike still looks like a bike. Assembled to order with brand-new, latest-generation parts, with no old stock or old specs.

Motor

  • The Gen3 Zehus hub has a 200Wh battery and gives pedal assist up to 25 km/h. It adds only about 3kg.
  • The Gen3 hub brings improved charging and a maximum torque of 40Nm.
  • The battery, wheel speed sensor and pedal torque sensor are all integrated in the hub, so there are no separate sensors or battery cables.
  • KERS tops up the battery on the move as you brake and back-pedal. Turn it on by back-pedalling or from the controller.
  • There's no noticeable drag when freewheeling or with the assist off.
  • The battery pack is rated for up to 15,000 km.
  • It's already compliant with the new, stricter EU safety standards.
  • Comes with the standard Zehus warranty and an international network of repair and assistance centres.
  • App lock and wireless control: set it once and ride, or use the optional remote, the app or a third-party display.
  • Compatible SIGMA bike computers: ROX 2.0, ROX 4.0 (incl. Endurance), ROX 11.1 EVO, ROX 12.1 EVO and EOX VIEW 700, 1300 and 1500. They connect via Bluetooth and show speed, cadence, battery level, odometer and assist level.

Fit and compatibility

  • It takes Shimano 9-spline cassettes.
  • It has a 10×12mm slotted solid axle, for nutted or quick-release dropouts only (no thru-axles).
  • A Brompton G-Line kit is now available; it's not suitable for standard 16" Brompton bikes.
  • Handling stays neutral, with no battery weight on the front and both electric and pedal power going to the rear.

Ordering

  • The lead time is 2–6 weeks from purchase.
  • Installation is fairly straightforward but needs some basic mechanical sympathy.
